Prizes for Voice balloon photo contest winners
September 02 2016
MEET the winners! The top three in the South Bristol Voice Balloon Fiesta photography competition went to Greenwoods estate agents in Wells Road, Knowle, this week to be presented with their prizes.
Director James Grimsted was on hand to present the awards – the firm is a keen supporter of local artistic activity and has just added its second mural by popular Totterdown artist Andy Council to its outside wall.
There's another Andy Council picture inside – as usual including the colourful Totterdown terraces – which formed the backdrop for our line-up.
The winners were:
First prize (£25) Jane Vellender of Brecknock Road, Knowle: Jane is a well-known local artist and her much-admired picture gave emphasis to an unusual cloud formation after high winds made it doubtful the balloons would lift off.
Second prize (£10) Helen Lafevre of Elmdale Road, Bedminster: Helen leaned out of her window at 7am to take a great shot of balloons lifting off on the Saturday morning; you almost feel as if you're next to them.
Third prize goes to photo-made Daisy Szynkaruk, 7, who lives in St John's Lane but was staying at her grandma's In Brislington when she took her picture showing a balloons silhouetted against the sunset.
Congratulations to all the winners, and thanks for Greenwoods for sponsoring the competition once again.
Pictured are Daisy's dad George Szynkaruk, Daisy's sister Heidi, James Grimsted, Daisy, Jane Vellender and Daisy's mum Samantha. Helen Lafevre unfortunately couldn't join us for the presentation.
