MY WILD Child is back by popular demand – a chance not to be missed for you and your toddlers!
Avon Wildlife Trust is re-launching the much-loved free My Wild Child Sessions and is once again going wild at Bommie-Knowle on Wednesday mornings from 10-11.30am.
My Wild Child sessions have been immensely popular and are a great opportunity for families with young children to enjoy outdoor play whilst discovering and being excited by nature.
Sessions are packed with activities, some energetic, including running and playing. Others are discovery based, such as a getting to know mini beasts and pond life.

There are also songs and stories, take-home activities and follow ups.
Avon Wildlife Trust recognises that play is the way children learn and make sense of the world (as do all animals). Exploring, moving and using the different senses, improves coordination and aids brain development. Playing outside stimulates all the senses and offers natural learning opportunities and challenges.
In the open there are unpredictable obstacles such as roots to be hopped over, trees to be clambered on, rocks to be negotiated, and puddles to splash through – all help to improve balance and coordination.
The benefits are not only physical, while children interact with nature and each other, their language vocabulary increase.
There are so many benefits from My Wild child sessions – and of course you have happy children breathing fresh air who learn to respect and appreciate nature and the environment!

Some comment from parents and children-

“I’m learning things from my son, looking at ID books with him, so I’m learning things too which is good.”
I tell people that we go to My Wild Child and do things like make seed bombs and bird seed things. It’s so important to learn about all of this. This is what we need to concentrate on their future.”

“My daughter has really enjoyed playing in the stream and playing with the swing-net and different equipment, she’s quite inquisitive anyway but she’s certainly remembering the names of various insects and bugs.”

My Wild Child sessions run during term time at The Bommie – Knowle
Wednesday mornings from 10am to 11.30am, free
